Cassandra is currently completing a bachelor’s degree in Child Studies at Concordia University. Previously, Cassandra attended John Abbott College where she graduated with a degree in Social Science with a “focus” on Environmental Studies. Cassandra has been tutoring and working with children of all ages for a number of years. While at John Abbott College, Cassandra worked as a peer tutor and gained experience tutoring students with special needs. More recently, she has also gained practical experience and applied many approaches garnered through her Child Studies degree while leading a homeschool group of Pre-K students. Through play and inquiry-based learning, she helped to develop competencies in language and numeracy as well as fine and gross motor skills and socio-emotional skills. Upon completion of her degree at Concordia, Cassandra wants to pursue her studies and obtain a Master’s of Art in Geography, which will ultimately lead her to her dream of teaching environmental sustainability at the Cegep level. Cassandra is a true environmental sustainability advocate and wants to impart her knowledge on younger generations. Cassandra is a year-round Ringette player, often mentoring and coaching younger girls who seek to improve their skills on the ice. As a tutor, Cassandra encourages a positive atmosphere where openness and honesty are the norm. Cassandra also believes in helping students learn important life skills through her tutoring, such as: accountability, responsibility and autonomy. Cassandra has a fun teaching approach and believes that children learn best when they are actively involved in their education.
