Jamie studied Special Care Counseling at Vanier and currently works as Special Care Counselor for young adults with autism and intellectual disabilities. He has worked and volunteered with people of all ages, supporting a wide variety of learning profiles, including those with language impairments, social skill gaps and behavioral issues. Many of the skills acquired through these experiences serve him well when working 1:1 with students and his relationships often take on that of a mentor-mentee character, in addition to the subject matter expertise. Jamie is also a swimming instructor with 8 years of experience teaching group classes for babies, children from 6-12 years old and, even adults. He has worked for Ville de Montreal as a Bronze Medallion and Cross teacher as well as the Sylvan Adams YM-YWHA, as an instructor and Lifeguard. He has taught the bronze medallion course to teenagers and worked with many swimmers through private lessons. He brings an enthusiastic and fun style of teaching swimming, while focusing on fundamental skills and water safety. He is fluently bilingual in French and English and, in his free time, he enjoys biking, playing guitar and martial arts.
