Mia is an approachable and passionate elementary school teacher. She is currently in her third year teaching for LBPSB. Before graduating McGill in 2018, she had experienced four student-teaching stages at various schools in Montreal, with the final one focused on special education. From this experience, Mia was able to learn how to adapt her teaching to different students and learning styles. She also developed the skills to support students’ mental health and emotional needs. Mia knows the importance of creating a trusting relationship and getting to know each individual she works with. Mia plans to return to McGill in 2021 to continue her studies in Educational Leadership. She believes education is a place of change and power. Mia views learning as a lifelong process and challenges herself by engaging in professional development in order to keep up with the ever evolving educational landscape. Mia uses the growth mindset to create a comforting and successful learning environment. She always challenges students to think critically about the world around them and, most importantly, to not be afraid to take risks. Every individual is unique and with their own set of strengths and weaknesses, and through this uniqueness Mia believes they can succeed if they are given an opportunity. She designs learning experiences that will help students develop skills and tools that they can use not only in school, but also in everyday life.
