He holds a B.Ed and a B.Mus from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. Owen has been teaching and tutoring for many years, and has ambitions for a career in education.  Before moving to Montreal in September 2019, Owen recently completed a year-long teaching contract in North Vancouver, British Columbia. There he taught Mathematics at Brockton Preparatory School, an IB private school, and was responsible for teaching grade 9-12, covering topics ranging from geometry, finance, calculus, functions, statistics and probability. As a classroom teacher, Owen learned the value of working one on one with students as the most effective way of grasping difficult topics. He also helped various students prepare for exams, and create effective study strategies.  Owen was born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario. He has been passionate about education ever since teaching piano lessons to local children while he was in high school. After spending 5 years helping coordinate a local after-school program, Owen decided a career in education would be a perfect outlet for his passion for music. While attending Queen’s University, Owen was a strong student in his mathematic and music courses, and in his second year began tutoring his peers and grading assignments for his professors.  Owen is excited to be working with Monarque and with his wealth of experience, patience, and positive energy, he will make an excellent tutor for every student.
