Sydney is a fourth year McGill University Psychology student with future plans of pursuing an education degree and becoming a high school teacher. She has spent the past 3 summers facilitating a comprehensive math and science tutoring and exam prep program for approximately 40 Secondary 4 and 5 students. She has also taught summer school math and science courses at the secondary level.  Sydney is passionate about teaching and learning across a wide range of subject areas including math, science, social sciences, and English. Regardless of the subject, she uses a strengths-based approach to help students discover and hone their academic abilities. Depending on individual students’ needs, she will determine different skills and strategies to develop in order to help them achieve their goals and build confidence through results.  She believes that a positive student-tutor relationship built on empathy, patience, and mutual respect is necessary for positive learning outcomes and, as a result, this has become integral to her practice.
