Kayla is an accomplished educator with a Master’s in Teaching ESL and a Bachelor’s of Arts in Political Science and Hispanic Studies from McGill University. Fluent in English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish, she has lived in Spain for a total of two years, working as an English language teaching assistant and private tutor. During this time, she gained firsthand experience with diverse educational methodologies, including problem-based learning and gamification, and developed strategies for quickly adapting to new environments and student needs.
In Montreal, Kayla has worked both as a trusted resource tutor within the English Montreal School Board and as a substitute teacher with the Lester B. Pearson School Board. These experiences, alongside her time in Spanish classrooms, have provided her with a unique perspective on effective teaching practices and the theoretical foundations that support learning.
Kayla specializes in tutoring English, Spanish, history, and geography at all levels, as well as elementary mathematics, science, and French. She crafts lessons that combine dynamic, engaging activities with structured repetition, helping students explore new concepts, build mastery, and foster both personal and academic growth. Outside the classroom, she enjoys baking (and taste testing), learning new languages such as American Sign Language, and crocheting.
