Kristen is an energetic, patient, and compassionate piano teacher, with 8 years of experience teaching piano, and some voice, to students of all ages and levels. She has directed and accompanied two Children’s Choirs for 13 years, and has volunteered in many elementary schools to help with music programming. She grew up in Toronto and moved to Montreal in 2019, and since then has been making herself known in the Montreal professional music scene. She is also a Juno-Award winning musician. Kristen’s approach to teaching has always been to tailor programs based on her students’ individual interests, while building a strong foundation in theory, technique, and rhythm. Kristen is absolutely dedicated to supporting and nurturing the love of music in her students, as well as maintaining strong communication with parents/guardians on progress. She uses a variety of tools to aid in teaching and engagement, and always encourages her students’ musical growth by being a strong advocate of involvement in musical activities and opportunities in school and community. As a musician, Kristen holds degrees in Education and Vocal Music Performance, Magna Cum Laude from York University in Toronto, and is currently studying her Masters in Early Music Vocal Performance at McGill University. She started classical music training in piano at the age of 4 and currently holds her Level 8 RCM Piano and Rudimentary Theory Certificates. Kristen looks forward to working with students teaching piano and theory.
