Laure is a native French speaker who grew up in Paris. Passionate about biology and animals, she followed a highly selective 3-year pre-vet program (4% admission rate) in Paris, before entering an Engineering school in Lyon, France. Fascinated by new cultures and people, she completed a Bachelor’s degree in Life Science at McGill University in Montreal and graduated with Honors. She then went on to pursue postgraduate studies at McGill’s Department of Experimental Medicine, where she conducted lab research on HIV-1 at the Jewish General Hospital. In parallel, she earned a Graduate Certificate in Business and Administration from Concordia University. Laure has always enjoyed sharing her knowledge. She has been teaching and tutoring French, Math, Biology, and Physics, both in French and English, to students of various backgrounds, ages and levels, from elementary to high-school students and adults, beginner to advanced, for over 2 years. Laure focuses on quickly understanding a student’s needs and struggles and adapting her teaching as needed. She works with students to help them break down complex concepts into simpler ones, develop organizational and technical tools to build strong foundations, progress quickly and become independent in their studies. For Laure, all facets of teaching, from explaining complex biology concepts using simple words and metaphors to teaching French writing or grammar, come down to the same principles: sharing her knowledge and passion for the subject and empowering students to feel confident with what they are pursuing. When Laure isn’t tutoring, she spends her time content-editing and translating French/English content of scientific documents, kickboxing (she holds the 2018 Canadian Kickboxing Championship silver medal), salsa dancing and baking.
