Jasmyne is currently a third year student at McGill University completing her Bachelor’s of Education in Secondary English Language Arts and Geography. Before attending McGill, Jasmyne completed a DEP at John Abbott College, where she studied Social Work, making the Dean’s list every semester. Jasmyne has continuously worked in fields that involve teaching, for instance she lifeguarded for 5 years which allowed her to teach swimming lessons and other aquatic sports. She decided to further her lifeguarding knowledge and completed the LSI course and became an instructor for future lifeguards. She also tutored her neighbours and peers in English, French and History/Geography. Jasmyne had the fulfilling opportunity to work as an integration aid at MacDonald High School where she was dedicated to creating learning methods best suited for each of her students and to assisting them to reach their full potential. In the summer of 2024, Jasmyne chose to participate in a volunteer teaching program. This allowed her to travel to Portugal and teach English as a second language to young Portuguese students. Jasmyne’s approach to teaching and learning consists of positivity, patience and adaptability. Each individual learns material in a different way and Jasmyne aims to create lessons best suited for each individual. Her methods include creating educational games, providing visuals and worksheets, and catering to the students’ interests. In addition to her love of learning, Jasmyine enjoys reading, playing basketball and traveling!
